If David Chase is to be believed, mobsters use this terminology, or at least Tony Soprano used it. While many sexual metaphors are as negative as most dog metaphors, this combination seems to be basically descriptive and benign. There is even a sort of mild good humor in the term, a rare glimpse of humans actually comfortable in their likeness to dogs.
