dogfish. Any of various small sharks, chiefly of the family Squalidae, of Atlantic and Pacific coastal waters. However bowfins, which are not sharks at all and which are otherwise unrelated to Squalidae, are also called dogfish or mudfish. Both versions can grow to several feet in length. |
