dog ear collar. A collar shaped like a dog's ears; usually found on a drizzler jacket,reference 1 a drizzler being a kind of rainwear.

A comparison of Figures 1 and 2 make clear what the derivation of the term is: the floppy ear flaps of many dogs do have the shape and drape of the collar depicted above. Of course not all dogs have such floppy ears, as you can see in Figure 3, and yes, that really is a dog, not a rabbit.
