Web publication The Canine in Conversation: Dogs in Metaphor and Idiom Illustrated is a culmination of the less formal Dogs Project that I have been engaged in for the last 7 years. The Dogs Project has investigated the cultural narratives about the linguistic and social roles of dogs in relation to both with the non-literal references to dogs in U.S. English and with empirical studies of canines and their relations with humans. The Project is a personal inquiry. It is interdisciplinary in nature and by intention both creative and scholarly.
